Reposit for Tenants – A More Affordable Way to Move Into Your New Home
We’re pleased to offer Reposit, a deposit-free renting option designed to make moving home easier and more affordable for tenants. This guide explains exactly what Reposit is, how it works, and what you need to know before choosing it.
What Is Reposit?
Reposit is an alternative to paying a traditional cash deposit. Instead of paying several weeks’ rent upfront, you pay a one-off, non-refundable fee equal to one week’s rent (minimum £150).
This fee is split between all tenants on the tenancy.
You then move in without paying a standard deposit, helping you keep more money in your pocket when you need it most.
How Reposit Benefits You
✔ Much Lower Upfront Costs
Traditional deposits are usually five weeks’ rent. With Reposit, you only pay a small fee equal to one week’s rent. This can save you hundreds or even thousands of pounds when moving home.
✔ No Waiting for Deposit Returns
At the end of the tenancy, you only pay for any valid charges (such as cleaning, damage, or unpaid rent). There’s no waiting weeks for a deposit to be returned, because you never paid one in the first place.
✔ Faster, Easier Move-Ins
No need to move money between accounts or borrow to cover a large deposit. Reposit allows you to move quickly and with much less stress.
✔ Great for Groups
If you’re moving in with friends or housemates, the Reposit fee is split between everyone, making it even more affordable.
✔ A Fair, Transparent Process
If there are charges at the end of the tenancy and you disagree, Reposit provides access to an independent dispute process handled by qualified adjudicators.
How Reposit Works (Step by Step)
Choose Reposit when you receive your sign up email from Goodlord creating your tenancy when prompted.
Complete referencing in the usual way.
Once approved, you’ll receive an email from Reposit to sign up and pay the one-off fee.
Once the fee is paid, Reposit is activated and you can move in as normal.
At the end of the tenancy:
Any charges are shared with you through Reposit.
You can accept and pay them, or raise a dispute if you disagree.
Reposit resolves disputes quickly through independent adjudicators.
What Does Reposit NOT Cover?
It’s important to understand that Reposit is not a deposit and doesn’t protect you from charges.
You are still responsible for:
Cleaning costs
Damages
Unpaid rent
Any other valid end-of-tenancy charges
Reposit simply removes the need to pay a large sum upfront.
Common Questions from Tenants
Is the Reposit fee refundable?
No. It’s a service fee and cannot be refunded or used to offset any charges.
What if I don’t agree with the end-of-tenancy charges?
You can raise a dispute via Reposit.
There is a £60 dispute fee, which is refunded if you win.
Can I still choose a traditional deposit instead?
Yes. Reposit is completely optional, you can still pay a standard deposit if you prefer.
Do I need to pass referencing to use Reposit?
Yes. Reposit requires tenants to meet affordability criteria (or provide a guarantor).
